Summary of Events
In March of 2024 we assigned a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta to Dondreiunna Means. When she came to us, she was not able to purchase a vehicle any where else due to bad credit and limited funds. On 9/13/24 Dondreiunna Means contacted us and spoke with Mr. Roberts about an incident where the vehicle we assigned her was damaged.
--[call was recorded - audio recording #1 below]
Mr. Roberts explained the protocols for processing insurance claims. Dondreiunna Means explained that she had already processed the insurance claim with the insurance company and was waiting on a check. Mr. Roberts informed her that this was not the proper sequence of events, and that she failed to properly handle the situation. Dondreiunna Means signed a Vehicle Assignment Agreement ("VAA") which stated that all damages and insurance claims must be processed through Auto Help Corporation as soon as the event happens. Mr. Roberts pointed out to her that she failed to follow these rules, but that we would move forward with the process anyway and see it through.
Approximately a week later, Dondreiunna Means contacted Mr. Roberts to let him know the check came in from the insurance company. Mr. Roberts and Dondreiunna Means agreed that she was going to bring the check in with the car to our office for processing on 9/23/24.
On 9/23/24, Dondreiunna Means was supposed to meet with Mr. Roberts. However, her parents Donald and Chinova Means, showed up at 6:30pm. Mr. Roberts met with the parents.
--[event was recorded - audio recording #2 below]
Mr. Roberts explained to Donald and Chinova Means the procedures for handling insurance claims. Donald and Chinova Means expected Mr. Roberts to sign the check and money over to them. When Mr. Roberts informed them that this course of action was not proper, and he was obligated to return the funds back to the insurance company, they became irate, irrational and hostile. They both fabricated racial tensions when there was none, because they were not getting what they wanted.
Mr. Roberts remained calm and collected as he attempted to de-escalate the conversation. Donald and Chinova Means ended the meeting and went outside of the building to call the police.
While they were outside making calls to the police and waiting for the police to arrive, Mr. Roberts went to his office and pulled up the gps system and tracked the vehicle location to see what body shop it was at. According to the gps system, the vehicle was located at their home address. In this meeting, Donald Means told Mr. Roberts that the vehicle was already at a body shop getting repaired. Donald fabricated this lie in an attempt to get Mr. Roberts to sign the check from the insurance company.
A police officer arrived shortly thereafter and they told this officer their version of the story. He came inside and asked Mr. Roberts to explain what was going on. Mr. Roberts showed the officer the Vehicle Assignment Agreement, the Registration and explained our program and what he felt was going on with them.
The officer looked over all the documentation, asked a few questions, which Mr. Roberts answered and then he went back outside where Donald and Chinova Means was waiting.
Mr. Roberts followed the officer outside and recorded the interaction with them and the police officer.
--[event was recorded - audio recording #3 below].
The police officer communicated the same basic message that Mr. Roberts had given them earlier AND they continued to be argumentative and once again, accused Mr. Roberts of being racist because he took the check. Anybody can listen to the audio recordings and determine that Mr. Roberts was simply doing his job and what he said was not racist in any way. You can hear the police officer in the recording respond to their race baiting statements, as he escorts them off the property.
At 7:18pm on 9/23/24 - Dondreiunna Means called Mr. Roberts.
--[call was recorded - audio recording #4 below]
At the beginning of this call, Dondreiunna Means and Mr. Roberts go back and forth on the validity of the process and the rules of the program. They discussed the time frames on getting the vehicle repaired and then Mr. Roberts explained to Dondreiunna Means why the offer to take a loaner vehicle was no longer available to her. Mr. Roberts gave Dondreiunna Means a summary of what happened with her parents and what Mr. Roberts was contemplating as a result of that interaction. Mr. Roberts clarifies what he is willing to do to see the process move forward, including what actions she should avoid that would cause additional stress. Mr. Roberts identifies what actions she and her parents should avoid [attorney/news/police] and as long as they do not take any of these actions, he was still willing to work with her. They continue to go back and forth on various details and Mr. Roberts keeps explaining to her that she and her parents are not handling the situation properly. He repeats the same message, over and over and she is still angry. Mr. Roberts attempts to calm her down and she continues to curse and yell and express herself irrationally. Mr. Roberts asks to terminate the call, so she could step away from the call and calm down and continue to talk after she has got her emotions under control.
At 7:32pm on 9/23/24, Dondreiunna Means called Mr. Roberts.
--[call was recorded - audio recording #5 below]
Dondreiunna Means calls Mr. Roberts back a few minutes after the previous call. She seems to have calmed down. She is now vocalizing her frustration about no longer having the ability for a loaner vehicle. Mr. Roberts verbalized to her in the previous call that this was no longer available to her and why.
Loaner Car Policy [See Vehicle Assignment Agreement]
The "offer" to loan a vehicle is NOT an obligation of our program, but rather, a good-will gesture that we sometimes extend to program participants. This good-will gesture is typically reserved for those families in our program that have demonstrated fiscal responsibility and program compliance. In this case, we had a vehicle available and Mr. Roberts was prepared earlier in the day to let Dondreiunna Means leave with that vehicle [this can be verified in the audio recording #2]. If she had of shown up to our office with the assigned vehicle and handed over the check, she would have been able to leave with that loaner vehicle. But as stated earlier, her parents showed up and the entire direction of the interaction turned volatile.
In this call, Mr. Roberts went back and forth with Dondreiunna Means debating the merit of her actions and her parents [the hostility and threats]. As a result of the stressful interaction with her and her parents Mr. Roberts was supposed to terminate Dondreiunna Means. However, for some reason, Mr. Roberts does not automatically terminate her as required by the Agreement and the program policies.
On this call, he states that he will contact the insurance company the next day to get the payment for the claim fixed. Mr. Roberts confirms that she will need to bring the vehicle into the office and drop it off.
He continues to avoid termination with the stipulation that her parents stop taking actions like they did when they met with Mr. Roberts in the office earlier that day. Mr. Roberts stated that if she could get them to stop "interfering" with the process, that he would continue to work with her. Mr. Roberts was hopeful that he could get them to change their behavior and get them back on good terms.
However, at the end of this call, Dondreiunna Means tells Mr. Roberts that she has a decision to make about keeping the car or not. This statement caused Mr. Roberts to reconsider his position on continuing to help her. This was because of her parents behavior. They had just threatened Mr. Roberts with calling an attorney and the news channel, AND called the police. Mr. Roberts felt like Dondreiunna Means had her parents in her ear, and that they were going to take other measures to get the insurance money.
At 7:42pm, within a few minutes of the previous call, Dondreiunna Means calls Mr. Roberts.
--[call was recorded - audio recording #6 below]
Dondreiunna Means, asks Mr. Roberts to clarify how much time she has before she has to drop off the vehicle. Mr. Roberts once again, re-states his intentions to help avoid terminating her and is considering giving her a loaner vehicle. He confirms steps that he has to take to process the vehicle and the insurance claim. He confirms his expectations on her parents compliance with the process and his desire to continue to help her.
Near the end of this call, she states that Mr. Roberts was correct and that she should have been terminated from the program. This dialogue continued to support the narrative that she was not going to be compliant with the process that Mr. Roberts was offering and instead take other actions with her parents.
TERMINATION FROM THE PROGRAM [after posting one-star review on Google]
Mr. Roberts received a Google notification later that evening. Donald Means went to Google and posted a one-star negative review. A review that was misleading and inaccurate and dishonest.
As a result of the calls with Dondreiunna Means, the previous interaction with Donald and Chinova Means, and this negative one-star review, Mr. Roberts consulted with his team and the decision was made to terminate Dondreiunna Means from the program.
We concluded that they were not going to comply with the process and that future interactions would continue to be hostile. It became paramount to secure the vehicle for proper insurance claims processing.
We decided to pickup our vehicle from their home address later that night.
At 2:05pm on 9/25/24, Dondreiunna Means calls Mr. Roberts.
--[call was recorded - audio recording #7 below]
Dondreiunna Means calls to speak with Mr. Roberts about the vehicle being taken and retrieving her items from the vehicle. Mr. Roberts explains why the vehicle was picked up. On this call, Mr. Roberts reveals to Dondreiunna Means that the primary cause for this course of action was the negative one-star Google review (primarily)...and in consideration of everything else that happened. It was the final straw, basically.
Dondreiunna Means asks for $500 and Mr. Roberts looked at the payment schedule and sees that she had paid that week in advance. The Vehicle Assignment Agreement states that any and all program payments are NOT refundable, however, Mr. Roberts offers to pay her that week's payment of $250 and give her the items that were in the vehicle, in exchange, for the key to the vehicle and the removal of the negative one-star review on google [and execution of a termination agreement].
Within 10 minutes the one-star negative review was removed from Google. Dondreiunna Means came by the office later that day. She gave us the key to the vehicle and she got all the items from the vehicle. Mr. Roberts prepared a termination Agreement that summarized the events to that point and the Agreement between the parties going forward, if she were to take the settlement payment being offered. Mr. Roberts explained to her that by signing the termination agreement and accepting the payment of $250, that this matter had been settled and that no party will take any action against the other. This included posting negative complaints and false reviews.

Google Review [exact message from Chinova Means]
My daughter recently had a car with these people. Someone T boned her and left damages to the car. So we got in touch with our insurance company and they sent us somewhere to get an estimate on the vehicle. We received the estimate and received a check in the mail for that estimate. My daughter name was on the check and so was mattew name on the check. We went up there for mattew to sign it, instead he took the check and I had to call the police to retrieve it back. Once we left from there hours later he towed the vehicle with my daughters property inside knowing days prior to this she paid her car not. Then mattew called and told my daughter to come and pick her things up. She told mattew her laptop and purse was missing out of the vehicle. Till this day mattew denies anything being missing out of the vehicle. Please my advise for anyone that wants to do business with these scammers RUN DONT WALK RUN!!!!

Our Response to this Review
Chinova Means is the person who wrote this google review AND she is being dishonest. This review is false and deceptive in nature. The statements in this review are riddled with inaccurate statements and inconsistencies. She had no contractual affiliation with our company. She is only writing this review in retaliation to our organization denying her access to funds from an insurance claim, where she and her family fraudulently attempted to take funds that did not belong to them. Per the Vehicle Assignment Agreement, the insurance claim was supposed to have been handled by Auto Help Corporation, it was not. She mistakenly said that Matthew's name was on the check and it was not.
We believe the Means family had no intentions of using the funds from the insurance company ($5,700) to repair the vehicle. We believe their goal was to take the money and leave us with a damaged vehicle. This is a common narrative that we have experienced numerous times, over the years, with previous program participants.

The Means family had one agenda, to get the money from the insurance company. The audio recordings provide evidence that everything Chinova Means is saying in this review is a lie. What exactly they would have done once they had the money is unclear. Based on prior experiences and some basic common sense, there was no way we were going to let them have the funds from this insurance claim.
Summary and Conclusion on this Review
The audio files and documentation provided on this page contradict the statements made by the Means family. It is clear that if the Means family would have gotten the proceeds from the insurance claim, that it would have likely resulted in financial losses to our organization.
This Review is inaccurate, deceptive and misleading. This consumer has tried to fraudulently take insurance proceeds ($5700) in an attempt to circumvent their Agreement with our organization. This review is a bullying tactic in retaliation to the fact that we would not concede to their demands. The Means family have no legal, moral or ethical right to the insurance proceeds.
This review could cause significant harm to others, because it is misleading potential consumers into thinking that our organization is not trustworthy. This review does not accurately reflect the quality of the services we provided, or can provide. They have omitted facts and details, and fabricated a deceptive story that is not characteristic who we are.

BBB - Customer’s Statement of the Problem by Dondreiunna Means
I recently bought a 2014 Jetta Volkswagen TDI from Matthew Roberts. The car recently was T-boned and I got my insurance company involved and told Matthew what was going on. So I told Matthew I was going to get some estimates on Machanic’s that can repair the vehicle. So I received an estimate of $5000 to be repaired. I told my insurance company and Matthew. I told Matthew that I am waiting on the insurance company to send a $5000 check that I have to sign off on and he would have to sign off on so we can get the vehicle repaired. Matthew yelled and told me I went about the process the wrong way and I should’ve told him soon as it happened which is I did and it went left from there. So Matthew told me that once I get the check bring the vehicle to him. So I received the check and took the car and the check to him. I took everything to him and he took the check without my signature and didn’t refuse to sign because he says I didn’t follow protocol. So I called the police and the police told us neither one of our signatures are on the check so it’s not any good for either one of us. So I rode off and the next morning I wake up to my car not being in the driveway. I recently paid him 500 2 days prior to this incident for my weekly not monthly but weekly payment and he still towed the vehicle with my personal items inside. I called the police on a stole vehicle and I called him he didn’t answer for 4 days. Next thing I know I get a phone call from him telling me to come and retrieve my items from the vehicle with no explanation being said or nothing. When I get there all of my belongings are sitting outside at the front door. I asked him for my $500 back from my previous payment and he refused and told me that I was terminated from the program and to sign papers validating that and also to make sure I received all my belongings from the vehicle. I didn’t sign that pacific paper work because to this day I am still missing a Louis Vuitton pursue and a Mac book.

Our Response to this BBB Complaint
Dondreiunna Means is the person who wrote this complaint. This complaint is misleading, inaccurate and contains numerous statements that not factual. The following facts can be verified by the audio recordings and documentation found on this page.
Inaccurate Statement #1.
Dondreiunna Means did not buy this vehicle and does not own it. Read the Vehicle Assignment Agreement.
Inaccurate Statement #2.
Dondreiunna Means and her parents filed an insurance claim without our knowledge and participation. This was a direct violation of the Agreement. The event that caused over $6,000 in damages had occurred months prior and filed with the insurance company on 9/4/24. Mr. Roberts became aware of the insurance claim on 9/13/24 by a phone call from Dondreiunna Means. The payment from the insurance company was cut on 9/11/24 two days prior. They knew the check was coming and when it arrived they realized that our company name was on the check and they had to have us sign it to deposit it. If our name wasn't on the check, they would have kept the money.
Inaccurate Statement #3.
"Matthew yelled and told me..." In the audio recording #1 which is the call that Dondreiunna Means is referencing where Mr. Roberts is accused of yelling at her. Mr. Roberts does not yell at her at any time during this call or anytime thereafter.
Inaccurate Statement #4.
Dondreiunna Means states that she brought the car and the check to us. This is the biggest false statement made. As evidenced in the audio recordings, her parents brought the check to our office, not her. She continues with this lie by stating that she brought both the check and the car. She states that Mr. Roberts refused to sign the check and so she called the police. This is another lie. Her parents were onsite having this argument with us, NOT her and they called the police, NOT her. She then states that she rode off with the vehicle and the next morning her car was gone.
Inaccurate Statement #5.
Dondreiunna Means states that her name is on the check. Her parents name and Auto Help Corp was on the check, NOT hers.
Inaccurate Statement #6.
Dondreiunna Means states that 4 days later she got a call from me. We took our vehicle from her on 9/23/24 late in the night and she called Mr. Roberts on 9/25/24 [as reflected in the audio recording on 9/25/24] ---2 days passed, not 4 days. She states that there was no explanation from us, when the opposite occurred on the call 9/25/24 at 2:05pm.
Inaccurate Statement #7.
Dondreiunna Means states that items are missing from her car. She also states that she didn't sign the termination documentation. This is false information. She took a settlement payment in the amount of $250 and it has been deposited and cleared our bank into her bank. Mr. Roberts sat down with her and went over the termination agreement prior to giving her the settlement check of $250. She signed the termination agreement when we gave her that check. She gave us the key to the vehicle and took all of the items that were in the vehicle. Mr. Roberts specifically reviewed the agreement with her before giving her the check, because he believed that she was going to retaliate. Her father had already posted a misleading and untruthful review on google. Because of their behavior, Mr. Roberts made it a point to draft the termination agreement and extend the settlement payment of $250, which she agreed to verbally and in writing. This was done to settle the matter. All of this was explained to Dondreiunna Means and she is omitting this and being deceitful.
Summary and Conclusion on this BBB Complaint
The audio files and documentation provided on this page contradict the statements made by the Means family. It is clear that if the Means family would have gotten the proceeds from the insurance claim, that it would have likely resulted in financial losses to our organization. Based on the recordings and documentation provided, it is clear that "these-people" have omitted the truth from their statements at ever opportunity possible. When our organization rightfully declined to concede to their demands, they fabricated racial tensions. The recordings and documentation support a totally different story than what these people are giving.
